Laser hair removal

How does laser hair removal work?

Laser light is absorbed by the pigment in each hair and turns into heat, which damages the follicle so it stops growing thick, dark hair.

The GentleMax Pro uses 755nm or 1064nm light depending on your skin. It only affects hairs in the active growth (anagen) phase, which is why you need several sessions spaced weeks apart. Read the full explanation in our guide to how laser hair removal works.

How many laser sessions will I need?

Most clients need 6–8 sessions spaced 3–4 weeks apart, followed by an occasional top-up.

Coarse hair on the legs or underarms often clears faster. Facial and hormone-driven hair can need more sessions. We'll confirm your number at the consultation.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Most people feel a quick snap, like a rubber band flick, and the Dynamic Cooling Device sprays cryogen before each pulse to keep discomfort low.

Sensitive areas such as the upper lip or bikini line can feel sharper. Your specialist can adjust settings and cooling at any time.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

Laser gives long-term hair reduction, not guaranteed permanent removal.

Most treated hair doesn't return, and regrowth is usually finer and lighter. Hormonal changes such as PCOS, pregnancy or menopause can trigger new growth, which is why we recommend top-ups when needed.

How long does a laser hair removal session take?

Most sessions take 10–60 minutes depending on the area, while a full-body session takes 1.5 to 2 hours.

Small areas such as the underarms or upper lip are quick. Large spot sizes on the GentleMax Pro help cover legs and backs faster than older lasers.

Which body areas can you treat with laser?

We can treat almost any area with unwanted hair, including the face, arms, underarms, chest, back, abdomen, bikini, legs, hands, feet and toes.

Men often treat the back, chest, shoulders and beard line. Your specialist will confirm which areas suit you at your consultation. See all treatment areas.

Does laser work on blonde, grey or red hair?

Usually not well, because blonde, grey, white and most red hairs lack the melanin the laser needs to absorb.

Laser works best on darker hair. We'll assess your hair colour at the consultation and tell you honestly whether it's likely to work for you.

Which laser do you use?

We use the Candela GentleMax Pro, which combines a 755nm Alexandrite laser and a 1064nm Nd:YAG laser in one machine.

Your specialist chooses the wavelength for your skin and hair, and the Dynamic Cooling Device protects the skin with each pulse. See our technology page for details.

Pre & post care

How should I prepare for my laser session?

Shave the area 12–24 hours before your visit, and avoid waxing, plucking, bleaching and tanning for four weeks beforehand.

Come with clean skin, free of creams, deodorant or makeup on the treatment area. Tell us about any new medication, as some can make skin light-sensitive.

Can I wax or pluck between sessions?

No: shaving is fine, but waxing, plucking and threading remove the root the laser needs to target.

Stick to a razor or trimmer for the whole course so every session works on as many follicles as possible.

What should I avoid after laser treatment?

For 48 hours, avoid hot showers, saunas, the gym, perfumed products and direct sun, and apply SPF 50 to treated areas every day.

Treated hairs shed on their own over one to three weeks, so don't pull them out.

Is redness after laser normal?

Yes, slight redness similar to mild sun exposure is normal and usually fades within a few hours.

A cool compress and a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser can help. If you notice blistering, crusting or redness that doesn't settle, call us on 04 882 0021.

Can I go in the sun after laser in Dubai?

Avoid direct sun on treated skin for at least 48 hours and use SPF 50 every day throughout your course.

A tan adds pigment to the skin, which raises the risk of burns and dark patches at your next session. Plan beach days and holidays around your appointments.

How often should I come in for follow-up sessions?

Laser sessions are usually booked every 3–4 weeks, then as occasional top-ups once your course is complete.

Many clients book one or two top-ups a year. For skin care, a HydraFacial is recommended every 4–6 weeks, and anti-wrinkle injection results typically last 3–4 months.

Safety & specialisation

Is laser hair removal safe for dark skin?

Yes: the GentleMax Pro's 1064nm Nd:YAG wavelength bypasses surface pigment, so it suits darker skin (Fitzpatrick IV–VI) when a trained specialist sets it.

We always assess your skin first and adjust energy and cooling to suit it, lowering the risk of burns or pigment change.

Are your specialists licensed?

Yes: laser treatments are carried out by DHA-licensed nurses and laser specialists, and injectables by a DHA-licensed doctor.

You're welcome to ask to see your practitioner's licence at any time.

Can I have laser treatment while pregnant?

We don't offer laser treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as a precaution.

There's no evidence of harm, but safety data is limited, so we pause your course and restart once you're ready.

Do you maintain a sterile, hygienic environment?

Yes: rooms and laser handpieces are disinfected between every client, and single-use items are thrown away after each session.

We follow Dubai Health Authority infection-control standards, and every client wears protective eyewear during treatment.

Can laser hair removal cause burns?

Burns are uncommon when settings match your skin, and are usually linked to tanned skin or incorrect settings.

We assess your skin before your first session, adjust settings from session to session and use the Dynamic Cooling Device on every pulse. Tell us if you've been in the sun or started new medication.

Skin treatments

How are your medical facials different from a salon facial?

Our medical facials are planned after a skin analysis and use medical-grade products in a DHA-licensed clinic to target specific concerns.

Treatments are overseen by our Skin Specialist & Consultant, Esra Moghimi, and focus on issues such as acne, pigmentation and ageing rather than relaxation alone. See our medical facial options.

What does a HydraFacial involve?

A HydraFacial uses Vortex-Fusion technology in three steps: Cleanse + Peel, Extract + Hydrate, and Fuse + Protect.

It targets congested pores, blackheads, fine lines, uneven tone, hyperpigmentation and heat or pollution damage. Learn more about HydraFacial at our clinic.

Is there downtime after a HydraFacial?

No, a HydraFacial has zero downtime, so you can return to work or plans straight away.

Other skin treatments need some healing time: light chemical peels may cause redness and flaking for 1–7 days, medium peels typically 7–14 days, and Dermapen microneedling redness a few days, sometimes up to a week. We'll explain what to expect before you book.

Which skin treatment is right for me?

The right treatment depends on your skin type and main concern, which we assess with a face-mapping skin analysis at your consultation.

Options include HydraFacial, medical facials, chemical peels, carbon laser facials and Dermapen microneedling. Explore all skin treatments.

Injectables

Who performs injectable treatments?

All injectable treatments are performed by DHA-licensed doctor Dr. Bahar.

Every treatment starts with a medical consultation to check your history and agree a natural-looking plan. See our injectables page.

How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?

Results from Botox (botulinum toxin) anti-wrinkle injections typically last 3–4 months.

The procedure takes 10–20 minutes and there's no downtime. Results appear gradually over the following days.

Which areas can anti-wrinkle injections treat?

Anti-wrinkle injections can soften forehead lines, frown lines, crow's feet and bunny lines, and can slim the jawline or relax neck bands.

Your doctor will assess your facial movement and recommend the areas that suit you. See anti-wrinkle injections.

What's the difference between anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers?

Anti-wrinkle injections relax the muscles that cause expression lines, while dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid to restore volume and shape.

Some clients combine both. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed. Learn more about dermal fillers.

You'll leave with a personal plan, the number of sessions to expect and a clear price before you commit.
