How it works

What are hyaluronic acid fillers, and how do they work?

Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule your skin already makes, and it holds water to keep tissue plump. As we age, we lose HA, collagen and fat, so areas like the cheeks and lips flatten. HA filler replaces some of that volume with a smooth gel, placed precisely by the doctor to lift, fill or define.

Fillers come in different firmness levels. Softer gels suit delicate areas that move a lot, while firmer gels hold shape where structure is needed. The doctor chooses the product for each area.

Treatment areas

Which areas can dermal fillers treat?

Dermal fillers at our Dubai clinic are used for the lips, cheeks, jawline and chin, under-eye hollows, smile lines and marionette lines. Each area has its own technique, product and recovery, so we've written a detailed guide for the most requested ones.

Fillers or injections?

Dermal fillers vs anti-wrinkle injections: which do I need?

Dermal fillers add volume where the face has lost it; anti-wrinkle injections relax the muscles that cause expression lines. If a line or hollow is visible when your face is relaxed, filler is often the answer. If lines appear only when you move, injections usually suit better.

Safety & reversibility

Are dermal fillers safe, and can they be reversed?

HA fillers are widely used and generally well tolerated when a qualified doctor performs them, but like any injection they carry risks. A key safety advantage of hyaluronic acid is that it can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which is why we use HA fillers only.

Common and temporary

  • Swelling, redness and tenderness for a few days
  • Bruising at injection points
  • A firm or slightly uneven feel while filler settles

Less common, discussed before consent

  • Lumps or asymmetry that may need adjusting
  • Infection or allergic reaction
  • Rarely, filler blocking a blood vessel, which needs urgent treatment

Preparation & aftercare

How should I prepare for fillers, and what's the aftercare?

Tell the doctor about any blood thinners or supplements, and avoid alcohol the day before to reduce bruising. After treatment, don't touch or press the area, skip intense workouts for 24 hours and avoid saunas and strong sun while swelling settles.

Before your appointment

  • Share medication, supplements and allergies
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours
  • Reschedule if you have a cold sore or skin infection
  • Allow two weeks before a big event

After your appointment

  • Don't touch, rub or massage the area unless advised
  • No intense workouts for 24 hours

  • Contact us immediately about severe pain or skin colour change

How long do dermal fillers last?

Dermal fillers often last 6–12 months, but the real figure depends on the product, the area and your metabolism. Areas that move a lot, such as the lips, tend to need top-ups sooner than the chin or cheeks. Your body breaks the gel down gradually, so results fade slowly.

The goal is balance, not obvious filler. Results vary from person to person.

FAQs

Dermal fillers in Dubai: your questions answered

More answers on our FAQ page.

How long do dermal fillers last?

Often 6–12 months, depending on the product, the area treated and your metabolism.

Lips usually need top-ups sooner than the chin, jawline or cheeks.

Can dermal fillers be dissolved?

Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, given by the doctor.

This can correct an unwanted result or manage a complication.

Will fillers look natural?

That's the aim. The doctor uses conservative amounts and plans around your proportions, adding more later if needed.

Overfilled looks usually come from too much product, which we avoid.

Do dermal fillers hurt?

Most people feel mild discomfort. Many fillers contain a local anaesthetic.

You can ask the doctor to pause at any time.

When can I exercise after fillers?

Wait 24 hours before intense exercise, and avoid saunas and strong heat while swelling settles.

Most people return to normal activities the same day.

How much do dermal fillers cost in Dubai?

The cost depends on the treatment area, the number of sessions and what your plan includes, so we don't publish a fixed price list.

You'll receive a clear, personalised quote at your consultation, before any treatment begins. You can also ask for a quote on WhatsApp.
