The treatment

What is a medical facial?

A medical facial is a facial performed in a clinic setting, where the products, strength and steps are chosen for your skin after an assessment. It follows a clinical structure of cleansing, exfoliation, extraction when needed, targeted serums and masks, then hydration and sun protection.

The aim is a measurable change in one concern over a series of visits, rather than a one-off pamper. Products come from professional skincare ranges that are generally not sold in spas.

Concerns we tailor it for

  • Acne & congestion
  • Enlarged pores
  • Uneven tone
  • Dry, dehydrated skin
  • Fine lines
  • Dull, tired skin

Clinic vs spa

How is a medical facial different from a salon facial?

A salon facial focuses on relaxation and a short-term glow, usually with a set routine. A medical facial starts with a skin analysis, uses professional-strength products and is planned as a course to change a specific concern, with a specialist checking how your skin responds at each visit.

On the day

What happens during a medical facial?

A medical facial follows five clinical steps, adjusted for your skin: a deep cleanse, exfoliation, extraction if needed, targeted serums and masks, then hydration and protection. Most clients find it comfortable and return to normal activities the same day, with skin looking calmer and clearer.

STEP 01

Deep cleansing

Makeup, sunscreen and impurities are removed so actives can work.

STEP 02

Exfoliation

Dead skin cells are lifted with an exfoliant matched to your skin.

STEP 03

Extraction, if needed

Clogged pores are cleared gently, only where it helps.

STEP 04

Serums and masks

Targeted actives for your main concern are applied and left to work.

STEP 05

Hydrate and protect

Moisturiser and broad-spectrum SPF finish the treatment.

Preparation & aftercare

How do I prepare for a medical facial?

Stop harsh exfoliants two to three days before your medical facial and bring a list of the active products you use, such as retinoids or acids. Afterwards, keep your routine gentle, stay out of direct sun and apply sunscreen every day.

Before your facial

  • No scrubs or harsh exfoliants for 2–3 days
  • Tell us about retinoids, acids or prescription creams
  • Mention pregnancy, allergies or recent treatments
  • Come with clean skin if you can

After your facial

  • Avoid direct sun, especially midday
  • Apply SPF 50 daily and reapply outdoors
  • Use gentle cleanser and moisturiser only
  • Pause strong actives until your skin feels settled

Results

When will I see results from a medical facial?

Skin usually feels cleaner and looks brighter after the first medical facial. Changes to breakouts, tone or texture build over several sessions, typically every 4–6 weeks, alongside the home routine your specialist recommends. Progress is reviewed at each visit and the facial is adjusted as your skin changes.

Results vary. If a concern needs more than a facial can offer, Esra may suggest adding a chemical peel, a pigmentation plan or microneedling.

FAQs

Medical facial FAQs

Answers from our skin team. See all FAQs for more.

Is a medical facial better than a HydraFacial?

Neither is better overall. A HydraFacial is a set three-step treatment, while a medical facial is tailored to one concern.

Many clients alternate them. Compare both on our HydraFacial page.

Is there downtime after a medical facial?

Downtime is minimal to none, and most clients return to normal activities the same day.

Sensitive skin can look slightly pink for a short time after exfoliation or extraction.

How often should I have a medical facial?

Every 4–6 weeks is typical for maintenance, in line with your skin's renewal cycle.

For a specific concern, Esra may plan a short course first.

Can a medical facial help with acne?

Yes, for mild to moderate breakouts and congestion, as part of a wider plan with good home care.

Severe or cystic acne may need a doctor or dermatologist. See our acne treatment page.

Which products do you use?

We use professional, clinic-only skincare ranges, chosen at your skin analysis.

If you have allergies or react to certain ingredients, tell us before your treatment.

How much does a medical facial cost in Dubai?

The cost depends on the treatment area, the number of sessions and what your plan includes, so we don't publish a fixed price list.

You'll receive a clear, personalised quote at your consultation, before any treatment begins. You can also ask for a quote on WhatsApp.
