Acne treatment works best as a plan: first calm active breakouts, then repair the marks and scars they leave behind. What causes acne, and how is it treated?
Acne develops when pores clog with oil and dead skin, bacteria multiply and the skin becomes inflamed. Hormones, stress, heavy products and humidity all play a part. In-clinic treatment clears congestion, controls oil and calms inflammation, while home care keeps new breakouts from forming.
Because active acne and acne scars need different tools, we assess which you have before recommending anything. Many clients have both, so the plan runs in stages.
What we assess
- Blackheads
- Whiteheads
- Inflamed spots
- Hormonal breakouts
- Back and chest acne
- Post-acne marks
- Acne scars
Two different problems
Active acne or acne scars: which treatment do I need?
Active acne needs treatments that clear pores and reduce oil and inflammation. Acne scars need treatments that rebuild collagen and smooth texture. Scar treatment usually starts only once breakouts are under control, because inflamed skin heals less predictably and can form new marks.
| Active acne | Acne scars and marks | |
|---|---|---|
| What you see | Blackheads, spots, inflamed bumps | Pitted scars, uneven texture, dark or red marks |
| Goal | Clear pores, reduce oil, calm inflammation | Stimulate collagen, even out tone |
| Main treatments | Medical facial, chemical peel, carbon laser facial | Dermapen microneedling, chemical peels |
| When | First | Once breakouts have settled |
Combined plan
What does acne treatment in Dubai include?
Your plan combines two or three in-clinic treatments with a home routine, chosen after a skin analysis with Esra. The mix changes as your skin improves: congestion and oil control come first, then marks and texture, then light maintenance to keep skin clear.
Medical facial
Deep cleansing and careful extraction with oil-balancing products.
Chemical peel
TCA or bio-peels, chosen case by case, to clear congestion and fade marks.
Carbon laser facial
Deep-cleans pores and helps reduce oiliness.
Dermapen microneedling
Collagen induction for scars, once acne is calm.
HydraFacial
Gentle upkeep for congestion and blackheads.
Home routine
Simple, consistent products that support every session.
How long does acne treatment take?
Acne treatment takes months rather than weeks. Skin renews slowly, so expect several weeks before breakouts clearly settle, and longer for scar work, which follows afterwards. Your exact timeline depends on severity, hormones and how consistently you follow your home routine.
Assess
Skin analysis, history and a written plan.
Calm
Facials, peels or carbon laser to clear congestion.
Repair
Microneedling or peels for scars and marks.
Maintain
Occasional sessions and daily home care.
Home care & aftercare
What home care helps acne-prone skin?
Good home care means a gentle cleanser, a light non-comedogenic moisturiser and oil-free SPF every day, plus the actives your specialist recommends. Just as important is what you avoid: picking, harsh scrubs and heavy products that clog pores in Dubai's humidity.
Do
- Cleanse morning and night with a gentle, non-stripping wash
- Use oil-free SPF daily, even indoors near windows
- Change pillowcases and phone screens often
- Introduce new actives slowly, as advised
Avoid
- Picking or squeezing spots, which deepens marks
- Harsh scrubs and over-washing
- Heavy oils and thick makeup on congested areas
- Sun exposure straight after peels or laser
When should I see a doctor or dermatologist for acne?
See a doctor or dermatologist if your acne is deep, painful or cystic, is leaving scars quickly, or hasn't improved after a few months of good care. These cases often need prescription medicine, which aesthetic facials and peels can support but not replace. We'll tell you honestly if that applies to you.
Our treatments can continue alongside medical care where it is safe, with timing agreed with your doctor. Some medicines, such as isotretinoin, mean waiting before peels, laser or microneedling.
Signs to seek medical advice
- Painful nodules or cysts under the skin
- New scarring appearing quickly
- Sudden adult acne with irregular periods or excess hair
- No improvement after a few months of consistent care
- Acne affecting your mood or confidence
Results
What results can I expect?
Most clients notice fewer blackheads and less oiliness first, followed by fewer new spots as the plan continues. Scars soften gradually over a microneedling course but rarely disappear completely. Results vary, and acne can flare again with hormones or stress, so maintenance matters.

What is the best acne treatment in a clinic?
There is no single best option. It depends on whether you have active acne, scars or both, and on your skin type.
Most people do best with a combined plan rather than one treatment repeated.
Can you treat acne scars while I still have breakouts?
Usually not. We calm active acne first, then start scar treatment such as microneedling once skin has settled.
Treating scars over inflamed skin can spread bacteria and cause new marks.
Will my acne come back after treatment?
It can. Acne is influenced by hormones, stress and products, so flare-ups are possible after a good result.
A steady home routine and occasional maintenance sessions help keep skin clear.
Is acne treatment suitable for darker skin?
Yes. We choose gentler peels and settings for darker skin, which is more prone to dark marks after inflammation.
Strict SPF is essential, because sun makes post-acne marks darker.
Do you treat teenage acne?
We can assess teenagers with a parent or guardian present.
Gentle facials and home-care guidance are often the first step.
How much does acne treatment cost in Dubai?
The cost depends on the treatment area, the number of sessions and what your plan includes, so we don't publish a fixed price list.
