What is the aftercare for laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal aftercare means keeping treated skin cool, calm and protected. For 48 hours, avoid heat, sweat, friction, fragranced products and direct sun, then use SPF 50 daily and shave, never wax, until your course ends. Preparation matters just as much, because shaved, untanned skin lets the laser work safely.
In the weeks before your session
Stop waxing, plucking, threading, epilating and bleaching four weeks beforehand, because laser needs the hair root in place. Avoid tanning and self-tan, and tell us about new medication, especially antibiotics, acne treatments or anything that makes skin light-sensitive.
On the day of treatment
Shave the area 12–24 hours before, so the surface is smooth but the root remains. Arrive with clean skin, free of creams, oils, deodorant and makeup on the treatment area, and wear loose clothing. Mild redness afterwards, like light sun exposure, usually fades within a few hours.
The first 48 hours
Skip the gym, saunas, steam rooms, hot showers, swimming pools and direct sun. Avoid perfume, scrubs and alcohol-based products on treated skin. A cool compress and a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser help if skin feels warm. Don't pick or scratch.
Between sessions
Treated hairs shed over one to three weeks, so let them fall out naturally. Shave as needed, but don't wax or pluck. Keep up SPF 50, avoid tanning, and attend sessions on schedule, usually every 3–4 weeks, so each visit catches new growth.

How should I care for my skin after a facial, peel or microneedling?
Aftercare depends on how deeply the treatment works. A HydraFacial has zero downtime, while microneedling can leave skin red and sensitive for a few days, sometimes up to a week, and chemical peels can cause redness and flaking for 1–7 days (light) or typically 7–14 days (medium). For all of them, keep skin clean and hydrated, pause strong actives briefly and wear SPF 50.
HydraFacial
- Back to your day straight away
- Skip heavy makeup for the rest of the day
- Repeat every 4–6 weeks
Chemical peels
- Let flaking skin shed; don't peel it off
- Pause retinoids and acids
- Strict sun avoidance while skin is renewing
Microneedling
- No makeup for 24 hours
- Clean hands and pillowcase that night
- No gym, sauna or swimming for 48 hours
What should I avoid after anti-wrinkle injections or fillers?
After anti-wrinkle injections, stay upright for a few hours, don't rub or massage the area, and skip strenuous exercise for the rest of the day. After dermal fillers, expect some swelling or bruising for a few days, and avoid heat, pressure and alcohol at first. Your doctor gives written instructions.
All injectable treatments are performed by DHA-licensed doctor Dr. Bahar, who confirms the exact aftercare for your treatment. Learn more about anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers.
Anti-wrinkle injections
- Stay upright for 4 hours
- No rubbing, facials or massage on the area
- Results appear gradually over the following days
Dermal fillers
- Cold compress for swelling; avoid pressing the area
- No saunas, hot yoga or alcohol for 24–48 hours
- Attend a review visit if your doctor advises one
How do I protect treated skin in Dubai's sun and heat?
Treat Dubai's sun as part of your aftercare. Apply SPF 50 every morning, reapply every two hours outdoors, and cover treated areas in the midday sun. Tanned skin raises the risk of burns and dark patches at your next laser session, so avoid tanning for the whole course.
Heat matters too: sweat, hot cars and outdoor workouts can irritate freshly treated skin, and air conditioning dries it out, so keep a gentle moisturiser to hand.
Planning around summer and travel
- Beach days and desert tripsLeave at least 48 hours after a session, and avoid tanning before the next one.
- HolidaysBook your session after a sunny trip once any tan has faded, not just before.
- Pools and swimmingChlorine can sting treated skin; wait 48 hours.
When should I contact the clinic after treatment?
Contact us the same day if you notice blistering, crusting, broken skin, increasing pain, or redness and swelling that is getting worse instead of settling. Mild redness that fades within hours is normal. Call 04 882 0021 or message 050 598 4550, and send a photo if you can.
Seek urgent medical care for difficulty breathing or swallowing, severe swelling, or, after fillers, sudden severe pain, skin turning white or dusky, or any change in vision. In the UAE, call 998 for an ambulance in an emergency.

- Redness or swelling lasting more than 48 hours

How long after laser can I go to the gym?
Wait 48 hours before the gym, sauna, steam room or swimming pool.
Heat and sweat can irritate treated follicles and cause redness or small bumps.
Can I shower after laser hair removal?
Yes, but keep showers lukewarm and avoid hot water on treated skin for 48 hours.
Use a gentle, fragrance-free wash and pat skin dry rather than rubbing.
When can I use deodorant or makeup after laser?
Wait about 24 hours before applying deodorant or makeup to treated skin.
Choose gentle, fragrance-free products at first.
Why are hairs still growing after my laser session?
Treated hairs take one to three weeks to shed, and hairs that were resting will grow later.
That's why a course of sessions is needed. Don't pluck; shave if needed.
Can I go in the sun after laser in Dubai?
Avoid direct sun on treated skin for at least 48 hours and use SPF 50 every day of your course.
A tan raises the risk of burns and pigment changes at your next session.
Is redness after laser normal?
Yes, mild redness like light sun exposure is normal and usually fades within a few hours.
Call us on 04 882 0021 if you notice blistering or redness that gets worse.
