What does laser hair removal for women involve?

Laser hair removal for women uses pulses of light to weaken the follicles that grow unwanted hair, giving long-term hair reduction over a course of sessions. Your plan covers the areas you choose, adjusted for your skin tone, hair colour and hormones, and every visit takes place in a private treatment room.

Laser & More Clinic is a DHA-licensed aesthetic clinic in Al Rashidiya, Dubai, using the Candela GentleMax Pro laser: 755nm Alexandrite for fair to olive skin, 1064nm Nd:YAG for darker skin.

Private rooms and female specialists

You're treated one-to-one in a closed room by a female laser specialist, only the area being treated is uncovered, and you can pause at any point.

Popular areas for women

  • Upper lip
  • Chin
  • Sideburns
  • Underarms
  • Arms
  • Bikini line
  • Brazilian
  • Abdomen
  • Lower back
  • Half legs
  • Full legs
Hormonal hair growth

Can laser help with PCOS and hormonal hair growth?

Yes, laser can reduce hair linked to PCOS and other hormonal conditions, but expect more sessions than average and regular top-ups. Hormones keep activating new follicles on the chin, jawline, neck and abdomen, so laser manages the hair while your doctor manages the cause.

If dark hair appears suddenly or spreads fast, we'll suggest seeing your GP or an endocrinologist alongside treatment. Tell us about any hormonal medication at your consultation.

How we plan for hormonal hair

  • A realistic session estimate, with no hard promises
  • Nd:YAG or Alexandrite chosen for your skin, not the area
  • Progress reviewed and settings adjusted
  • Top-up visits planned in, often one or two a year

Combine areas

Which laser areas do women combine?

Most women combine two or three areas in one visit, because one schedule saves time and usually costs less than separate courses. These are our most popular pairings.

Your body, your timing

Can I have laser during my period or pregnancy?

You can have laser during your period, although skin often feels more sensitive in the days just before and during it, so some women prefer to book mid-cycle. We don't treat during pregnancy or breastfeeding as a precaution. We pause your course and pick it up when you're ready.

Timing tips from our specialists

  • Around your periodBook outside your most sensitive days. For bikini treatment, use a tampon or menstrual cup.
  • PregnancyTell us as soon as you know and we'll pause your course.
  • After breastfeedingWe reassess your skin and hair, as growth often changes.

What to expect

What happens at a women's laser appointment?

Your first appointment starts with a private consultation and skin assessment. After that, each visit is a quick skin check, eyewear on, the area treated with cryogen cooling before every pulse, then soothing aftercare. An upper lip takes minutes.

STEP 01

Private consultation

We discuss your areas, medical history, hormones and any medication.

STEP 02

Skin assessment

We check your skin type and hair, match the settings to them and adjust them from session to session.

STEP 03

Treatment and aftercare

Cooling protects every pulse; SPF and advice follow, with your next visit booked.

Preparation & aftercare

How should women prepare for laser hair removal?

Shave 12–24 hours before your appointment and stop waxing, threading and plucking for four weeks beforehand, because laser needs the root in place. Afterwards, keep skin cool and out of the sun for 48 hours.

Before your session

  • Shave 12–24 hours before; no waxing or threading for four weeks
  • No self-tan, bleaching creams or sunbathing
  • No makeup, deodorant or lotion on the area
  • Tell us if you're pregnant, breastfeeding or on new medication

After your session

  • Mild redness usually settles within a few hours
  • No hot showers, saunas or gym for 48 hours
  • Wait 24 hours before makeup or fragranced products on the face
  • SPF 50 every day; let treated hairs shed on their own

Full guidance: laser pre and post care.

Results

What results can women expect from laser?

Most women see fewer, finer hairs after three or four sessions, and up to 90% hair reduction after a full course. Results vary. Underarms and legs respond fastest; facial and hormone-driven hair needs more patience.
