Treatment areas

Which facial areas can laser treat?

Laser can treat almost any facial area with dark hair below the eyebrows and away from the eyes: the upper lip, chin, jawline, sideburns, cheeks and neck. Each area is treated with settings matched to its hair, because upper lip hair is often finer than hair on the chin or jawline.

It suits women tired of threading or tweezing, and men who want a cleaner line: see laser beard shaping.

  • Chin
  • Jawline
  • Sideburns
  • Cheeks
  • Neck
  • Full face
Hormonal facial hair

Can facial laser hair removal help with PCOS?

Yes, facial laser hair removal can reduce PCOS-related hair on the chin, jawline and upper lip, but it manages the hair rather than the cause. Hormones keep activating new follicles, so expect more sessions than average and regular top-ups for as long as hormone levels stay raised.

If your facial hair is new or changing quickly, we'll suggest a check with your GP or an endocrinologist. Treating the cause and the hair together gives the best long-term result.

Worth a GP or endocrine check if you notice

  • Coarse hair appearing quickly on the chin, jaw or neck
  • Irregular or missed periods
  • Persistent adult acne or thinning scalp hair
  • Facial hair returning fast between laser sessions

Honest limits

Does laser work on fine, blonde or peach-fuzz facial hair?

Not reliably. Laser needs dark pigment in the hair to absorb its light, so fine vellus hair ("peach fuzz") and blonde, red, grey or white hairs respond poorly or not at all. We'll tell you at consultation which of your facial hairs are good laser candidates, and suggest alternatives for the rest.

How different facial hair responds to laser
Hair typeLaser responseWhat we suggest
Dark, coarse hair (chin, jawline)Responds wellA standard course, plus top-ups for hormonal hair
Dark, fine hair (upper lip)Responds, more graduallyExtra sessions may be needed
Blonde, red, grey or white hairLittle or no responseLaser usually isn't recommended; we'll discuss options
Vellus hair (peach fuzz)Not suitable for laserConsider Soft Light for fine hair and glow
Safety first

Can facial laser make hair grow more?

Rarely, yes. Paradoxical hypertrichosis is an uncommon side effect in which laser stimulates thicker or darker hair near the treated area instead of reducing it. It has been reported mostly on the face and neck, particularly with fine hair and darker skin, and its cause isn't fully understood.

We lower the risk by only treating dark, laser-responsive hair, avoiding vellus hair and choosing appropriate settings. If you notice new or thicker growth, tell us straight away so we can review your plan.

What to expect

What happens during facial laser hair removal?

A facial laser session takes about 15 minutes. Your specialist cleanses the area, fits your eye protection, then treats each area with a cooling burst before every pulse. The upper lip can feel sharper, so we work steadily and adjust settings if needed.

STEP 01

Assessment

We check your skin type, hair colour, thickness and hormonal history, then match the settings.

STEP 02

Eyewear and treatment

Eye protection on, then short passes over each area with cooling.

STEP 03

Soothe and protect

A calming product and SPF, with your next visit booked.

Preparation & aftercare

How should I prepare my face for laser?

Shave or trim facial hair 12–24 hours before, and stop threading, waxing, tweezing and bleaching for four weeks beforehand. Pause strong actives such as retinoids a few days before, arrive without makeup, and protect your face with SPF 50 every day afterwards.

Before your session

  • Shave the area 12–24 hours before
  • No threading, waxing, tweezing or bleaching for four weeks
  • Pause retinoids and exfoliating acids
  • Arrive with a clean, makeup-free face

After your session

  • Mild redness usually fades within a few hours
  • Wait 24 hours before makeup
  • No facials, scrubs or steam for 48 hours
  • SPF 50 daily; don't pluck shedding hairs

Results

How long do facial laser results last?

Treated follicles produce far less hair, and most clients see up to 90% reduction in dark facial hair after a full course. Results vary. Facial hair is strongly influenced by hormones, so new follicles can activate over time, and many clients book top-ups once or twice a year.

FAQs

Facial laser hair removal in Dubai: FAQs

Answers from our laser specialists. See all laser FAQs for more.

Is laser safe for the upper lip?

Yes, the upper lip is one of the most commonly treated areas, with eye protection and cryogen cooling throughout.

It can feel sharper than other areas because the skin is thin and sensitive.

Why is my chin hair coming back after laser?

Chin hair is often hormone-driven, so new follicles can keep activating after treated ones slow down.

Top-ups help, and a GP or endocrine check is worthwhile if regrowth is fast.

Can laser remove peach fuzz?

No, fine vellus hair has too little pigment for laser to target reliably.

Treating it also carries a small risk of stimulating growth, so we avoid it.

Can facial laser cause more hair growth?

Rarely, a side effect called paradoxical hypertrichosis can stimulate thicker hair near the treated area.

We reduce the risk by only treating dark, responsive hair. Tell us promptly if you notice new growth.

Is facial laser suitable for dark skin?

Yes, the 1064nm Nd:YAG wavelength is suitable for darker skin types IV–VI.

We assess your skin first and adjust energy and cooling from session to session to protect against pigment change.

How much does facial laser hair removal cost in Dubai?

The cost depends on the treatment area, the number of sessions and what your plan includes, so we don't publish a fixed price list.
