Pigmentation Treatment in Dubai

Pigmentation treatment starts with identifying the type of dark patch, because melasma, sun spots and post-acne marks each respond differently. Laser & More Clinic is a DHA-licensed aesthetic clinic in Al Rashidiya, Dubai, where skin specialist Esra Moghimi builds gradual plans of peels, facials and daily sun protection to even out skin tone.

The basics

What causes pigmentation?

Pigmentation happens when skin makes too much melanin in one area, leaving patches darker than the surrounding skin. The main triggers are sun exposure, hormones and inflammation, such as a healed spot or a burn. In Dubai, year-round strong sun makes all three types more common and more stubborn.

Treatment aims to fade existing pigment gently while stopping new pigment forming. Aggressive treatment can backfire, especially on darker skin, by causing more inflammation and more pigment.

Melasma, sun spots or PIH: what is the difference?

Melasma is hormone- and light-driven patchy pigment, usually on the cheeks, forehead and upper lip. Sun spots are defined brown marks caused by UV damage. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) is darkening left behind after acne, eczema or irritation. Each needs a different plan.

Can melasma be cured?

No. Melasma can be lightened and kept under control, but it isn't cured, and it often returns with sun, heat or hormonal changes such as pregnancy. That is why our melasma plans focus on steady, gentle treatment and long-term maintenance rather than a quick, aggressive fix.

  • Gentle firstStrong heat or harsh peels can make melasma darker.

Treatment options

Which pigmentation treatment in Dubai is right for me?

The right option depends on your pigmentation type, depth and skin tone. After your skin analysis, Esra usually recommends one or two in-clinic treatments, such as peels, medical facials, HydraFacial or Dermapen microneedling, alongside home care, starting gently and adjusting strength only when your skin responds well.

Protection & safety

Why does SPF matter so much in Dubai?

Sun exposure is the biggest reason pigmentation returns. In Dubai the UV index is high most of the year, so broad-spectrum SPF 50 every day, reapplied outdoors, protects your results. Before your first session, we also assess your skin type and medical history so the plan matches your skin.

Daily sun protection

  • Broad-spectrum SPF 50 every morning, even indoors by windows
  • Reapply every two hours outdoors
  • Tinted mineral SPF can help with melasma and visible light
  • Hat, sunglasses and shade at midday

Assessment and aftercare

  • A skin assessment before your first session
  • Strength adjusted from session to session
  • No picking or scrubbing treated skin
  • Pause strong actives until skin settles

Results

How long does pigmentation take to fade?

Pigmentation fades gradually over a course of sessions rather than after one visit. Sun spots and post-acne marks often respond more quickly, while melasma is slower and needs ongoing care. Results vary with your skin type, the depth of pigment and how consistently you protect your skin from the sun.

Marks left by breakouts improve most once acne is under control. See our acne treatment page if breakouts are still active.

FAQs

Pigmentation treatment FAQs

Answers from our skin team. See all FAQs for more.

Can pigmentation be removed completely?

Many dark spots can be faded significantly, but complete removal can't be promised, and pigment can return with sun exposure.

Daily SPF and maintenance give the best chance of lasting results.

Do you use laser for pigmentation or melasma?

No. We don't treat pigmentation or melasma with laser.

We use peels, medical facials, HydraFacial, Dermapen microneedling and home care, starting gently.

What happens before my first session?

You start with a consultation and skin assessment: your medical history, skin type and type of pigmentation.

Your plan is matched to your skin and adjusted from session to session, which matters most for darker skin.

Can I treat pigmentation during pregnancy?

Most active treatments are postponed during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Pregnancy-related melasma often improves afterwards.

Gentle skincare and strict sun protection are the safest steps meanwhile.

Which SPF should I use in Dubai?

Use a broad-spectrum SPF 50 every day and reapply every two hours when outdoors.

For melasma, a tinted mineral sunscreen adds protection from visible light.

How much does pigmentation treatment cost in Dubai?

The cost depends on the treatment area, the number of sessions and what your plan includes, so we don't publish a fixed price list.
