Tear trough · cause checked first
Under Eye Fillers in Dubai: tear trough treatment, planned with care
Under eye fillers use a small amount of hyaluronic acid to soften a hollow tear trough, the groove that casts a shadow beneath the eye. At Laser & More Clinic, a DHA-licensed aesthetic clinic in Al Rashidiya, Dubai, DHA-licensed doctor Dr. Bahar first checks whether volume loss is really the cause, because many dark circles aren't.

How does tear trough filler work?
With age, the fat pads and bone support under the eye gradually thin, so a groove forms between the lower lid and the cheek. Light falls into that groove and creates a shadow. A soft hyaluronic acid filler, placed in tiny amounts, can fill the groove so the lid-cheek junction looks smoother and less tired.
Because the under-eye skin is thin and the area is close to the eye, the doctor uses a gentle, conservative technique. Sometimes the best first step is supporting the mid-face with cheek fillers, which can lift the area beneath the eye indirectly.
You may be a good candidate if
- The shadow looks better when you tilt your face up to the light
- You have a visible groove, not puffy bags
- Your under-eye skin is reasonably firm
- You want a subtle, rested look
Not all dark circles are the same
What causes dark circles, and when can under eye fillers help?
Dark circles have four common causes: volume loss, pigmentation, visible blood vessels under thin skin, and puffiness from allergies or fluid. Under eye fillers only help the first. Treating pigment or puffiness with filler can make the area look worse, so the doctor identifies your cause before recommending anything.
| Cause | How it looks | Can filler help? | What may help instead |
|---|---|---|---|
| Volume loss | A groove or hollow that casts a shadow | Often, yes | Cheek support may also help |
| Pigmentation | Brown or grey tone that stays in any light | No | Pigmentation treatment, SPF |
| Visible vessels | Bluish or purple tint through thin skin | Rarely; can show through thin skin | Skin-quality treatments, doctor's advice |
| Allergies or fluid | Puffiness that varies day to day | No; may worsen puffiness | Treating the allergy, sleep, GP review |

Safety first
Why do we take a cautious approach to the under-eye area?
The tear trough is one of the most delicate areas to treat. The skin is thin, small amounts make a visible difference, and overfilling can cause puffiness or a bluish tint. So the doctor treats conservatively, would rather add a little later, if needed, than too much at once, and will decline if filler isn't right.

Your appointment
What happens during an under-eye filler appointment?
Your appointment begins with an assessment in different lighting to confirm the cause of your dark circles. If filler suits you, the area is cleansed, then a soft filler is placed in very small amounts. You'll see the change straight away, with swelling settling over the following days.
Assessment
Medical history, and your under-eyes checked at rest, in light and in shadow.
Preparation
The skin is cleansed and prepared.
Gentle placement
Filler is placed slowly and checked with you in a mirror.
Review
The doctor decides case by case whether a follow-up visit is needed.
Preparation & aftercare
Will I bruise, and how can I reduce swelling?
Bruising and swelling are the most common side effects of under-eye filler, because the area has many tiny blood vessels and thin skin. Not everyone bruises, but it's wise to avoid booking just before an event. Cold compresses and sleeping with your head raised can help swelling settle.
Before your appointment
- Tell the doctor about blood thinners and supplements
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours beforehand
- Allow about two weeks before any big event
- Reschedule if you have an eye or skin infection
After your appointment
- Apply cold compresses gently, as advised
- Sleep with your head slightly raised for the first nights
- Avoid rubbing your eyes and pressing on the area
- Skip saunas and intense exercise for 24–48 hours
Results
How long do tear trough fillers last?
How long tear trough filler lasts depends on the product, the amount used and your metabolism, and the doctor will give you a realistic range for your product. The under-eye area moves less than the lips, so results here often last longer than lip filler. Results vary.
If you're unhappy with the result, hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved. That's one reason we only use HA fillers under the eyes.

Will under-eye filler get rid of my dark circles?
Only if your dark circles are caused by a hollow that casts a shadow. Filler doesn't lighten pigment or hide visible vessels.
The doctor checks your cause first and suggests pigmentation treatment or other options when filler isn't suitable.
Is tear trough filler safe?
It's a delicate area, so careful assessment, conservative amounts and an experienced doctor matter.
Bruising and swelling are common. Lumps, a bluish tint and rare vascular complications are possible and are discussed before treatment.
How long does bruising last after under-eye filler?
If bruising happens, it usually fades within a week or two.
Plan treatment at least two weeks before an important event.
Can under-eye filler be dissolved?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase.
The doctor will explain when dissolving might be needed and what it involves.
Does under-eye filler hurt?
Most people feel pressure rather than pain.
Many fillers also contain a local anaesthetic.
How much do under eye fillers cost in Dubai?
The cost depends on the treatment area, the number of sessions and what your plan includes, so we don't publish a fixed price list.
